The “return to cart” link found by default in all Shopify checkout pages can end up being a double edged sword: while some merchants may find it maximizes their conversions, others may disagree and wish they could be removed altogether. Regardless of who’s right, the good news is: it’s totally possible to do so and you can freely A/B test what works the best for you.

In this tutorial I’ll show you how to quickly remove the “return to cart” text from your Shopify checkout page.

Locating the text and removing it

1. From your Shopify admin, navigate to online store > themes > actions > edit languages.
   
2. In the search bar at the top, right next to the button filters, type in the following: return to cart
   
   
   Wait for it to load until you can see the fields as the image above.
3. Now, type one single space in the fields of “Back to Cart” and “Return to cart button label.
   
   Once you do, hit “Save”, at the top right.
   
   It should look fully white, like this:
   
   
4. That is it – now your checkout page should no longer not show up the “return to cart”.
